ABOUT THE FACULTY |
The Faculty of Built Environment was first incepted
as the Faculty of Architecture in 1972. The name was changed in 1974 when
the Department of Urban and Regional Planning and the Department of Quantity Surveying
was incorporated under it's administrative umbrella. Courses offered then
were in Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, and Quantity Surveying, offered
both as a three year semi-professional diploma programme and a professional degree
structure.
The Faculty was among the first to relocate itself to the new main campus in Skudai,
Johor, across the causeway from Singapore, in 1985. Developments in academic
programmes saw the Bachelor of Building course being offered in 1988 which was changed
to Bachelor of Science in Construction in 2003, and the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture in 1993. Other academic activities includes courses offered through the auspices
of S.P.A.C.E. (School of Professional and Continuing Education), initiated in 1997
and post-gradute studies in various disciplines.
